The Ministry of Road Transport and
Highways (MoRTH) launched the Parivahan Sewa portal, a one-stop
online office for all of your car and driving-related requirements.
Its goal is to make transportation services easier, more
transparent, and accessible for Indian citizens.
To streamline services, the portal is split into two main sections:
VAHAN manages all services related to vehicles, while SARATHI
handles all services related to licenses. From renewing your
vehicle's registration certificate to applying for a learner's
license, this distinct division makes it simple to navigate and
finish tasks online from the comfort of your home.

Check →Managing vehicle-related documents used to mean standing in long queues at the RTO, dealing with endless forms, and wasting hours on small tasks. But with the VAHAN portal, all of this has moved online. This government-backed digital platform is designed to simplify the lives of car and bike owners by offering quick, transparent, and hassle-free services. From vehicle registration to challan payment, the VAHAN portal puts everything at your fingertips.
1. Register Your Vehicle Online: When you buy a new car or bike, the first step is registration. Instead of visiting the RTO multiple times, you can complete the process online. The VAHAN vehicle registration service allows you to pay road tax and get your Registration Certificate (RC) with ease.
2. Transfer Vehicle Ownership: Selling your old vehicle or purchasing a second-hand one? VAHAN makes the transfer of ownership straightforward and ensures all legal formalities are handled properly. This prevents disputes later and gives both buyer and seller peace of mind.
3. Renew Your Registration Certificate (RC): Just like a driving licence, your RC also comes with an expiry date. Driving with an expired RC is illegal. The VAHAN portal makes it easy to apply for RC renewal online, so your vehicle stays road-legal without unnecessary delays.
4. Get a Duplicate RC: If your Registration Certificate is lost or damaged, don’t worry. Through the portal, you can apply for a duplicate RC in a matter of minutes. It’s a simple and convenient way to replace important documents without hassle.
5. Book a Fancy Number Plate: Want your car or bike to stand out? The VAHAN portal offers an online fancy number booking system where you can bid for special or VIP registration numbers. The process is fully digital and transparent, giving you a fair chance at securing your desired number.
